Recreational Use in Kentucky
Recreational use is not legal in Kentucky.
Medical Cannabis in Kentucky
Medical cannabis is legal in Kentucky since 2023. Dispensary rollout is in progress.
Patients enrolled in the Kentucky program must meet state-specified qualifying conditions and obtain a registry card from the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Program rules cover possession amounts, caregiver designations, and reciprocity with out-of-state cards.
Home Cultivation
Home cultivation is not permitted in Kentucky.
Hemp-Derived CBD
CBD is legal in Kentucky. Hemp-derived CBD with THC at or below 0.3% is allowed.
Hemp-derived CBD products with THC at or below 0.3% are federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. State rules add their own restrictions on labeling, lab testing, and retail. See the CBD page for Kentucky.
