Recreational Use in Maryland

Recreational use is legal in Maryland since 2022. Adults can possess up to 1.5 oz. Retail sales began in 2023.

Adults 21 and older can legally purchase cannabis from licensed retailers in Maryland. Sales are regulated by the Maryland Cannabis Administration. All product sold by licensed retailers is lab-tested for potency and contaminants. Identification is required at purchase.

Medical Cannabis in Maryland

Medical cannabis is legal in Maryland since 2014. Licensed dispensaries are operating.

Patients enrolled in the Maryland program must meet state-specified qualifying conditions and obtain a registry card from the Maryland Cannabis Administration. Program rules cover possession amounts, caregiver designations, and reciprocity with out-of-state cards.

Home Cultivation

Home cultivation is permitted in Maryland. Plant limit: 2 per adult. 2 plants per household

Hemp-Derived CBD

CBD is legal in Maryland. Higher-THC products are available with the appropriate license.
