Recreational Use in Michigan

Recreational use is legal in Michigan since 2018. Adults can possess up to 2.5 oz. Retail sales began in 2019.

Adults 21 and older can legally purchase cannabis from licensed retailers in Michigan. Sales are regulated by the Cannabis Regulatory Agency. All product sold by licensed retailers is lab-tested for potency and contaminants. Identification is required at purchase.

Medical Cannabis in Michigan

Medical cannabis is legal in Michigan since 2008. Licensed dispensaries are operating.

Patients enrolled in the Michigan program must meet state-specified qualifying conditions and obtain a registry card from the Cannabis Regulatory Agency. Program rules cover possession amounts, caregiver designations, and reciprocity with out-of-state cards.

Home Cultivation

Home cultivation is permitted in Michigan. Plant limit: 12 per adult. 12 plants per household

Hemp-Derived CBD

CBD is legal in Michigan. Higher-THC products are available with the appropriate license.
